on to March with my catching up!

This month was a fun one! it might take two posts to get it all in. I had promised Sarah on her birthday that during her spring break we would go to Arizona to visit Aunt Juli and stop in Vegas along the way. And that time came fast! So I took a week off work and headed to Sarah's Sunday after church on March 10th. We didn't come home until the next Sat, March 17th, and I came home on the 18th.
I got to Sarah's house Sunday evening, she wasn't feeling well, felt like she was getting the flu. So I gave her some Emergen-C and ibuprofen and sent her to bed! She couldn't be sick for our fun week!!! I cleaned her closet while she slept. She has a big walk in closet and I always fold and hang up her clothes every time I go visit! It's a daunting task for anyone and I know she feels better when her room and closet are clean. That's just what mom's do... try to help their kids feel better.
Monday morning came and I let Sarah sleep as long as she needed... I think she had had a stressful week with school and work, and sleep would be the best medicine. So I proceeded to unclog her bathroom drain. That's another thing that mom's are good at, unclogging drains with wire hangers. It's quite disgusting what can be found in a bathroom sink drain... but it worked like a charm and the drain was unclogged. Sarah woke up feeling much better! Yay!!! but we felt if we were going to Vegas we should look our best... so we put on mud masks that Sarah had...
Doesn't this picture remind you of 'Dumb and Dumber" with Harry and Lloyd? we look just like them I think. We didn't even mean too, just took a picture of us and our face masks. It makes me laugh every time I look at it!
After our masks we ate a healthy breakfast, and then got ready for our trip.
We clean up pretty good! We were sooooo excited to go!! We had reservations at the Luxor in Vegas, and couldn't wait to get there! I LOVE road trips! I have gone on 2 to Arizona with Andrew for the Comic Con, and I've gone to Disneyland with Jim, so I needed a long road trip with Sarah. I love seeing the country and just going and driving and not really having any plans just a destination. You grow close on road trips, more so than just in everyday life. You can talk and not have distractions, I LOVE it!
We made a bathroom and snack break at Walmart in St. George.....
We can't pass up a good photo opt when we get one... and then we stopped at the Sinclair station....
for gas and Sarah had to go lay on the dionosaur.... LOL. And we were off again! Vegas or bust!
Then we were in Vegas!! The City of Sin!! Eeek!!!!
There was the Luxor! The sun was setting on it and you can almost here heavenly choirs singing from the way the sun is behind it, like ahhh-ahhhhhhhh, but we were in Vegas so there were no Heavenly choirs, LOL.
The Luxor is fun, it's like a big pyramid so the elevator ride is crazy... it's like Egyptian, so there are Pharaoh's and other Egyptian things around. On the way in to check in, Sarah couldn't help but take advantage of another photo opt.
She couldn't resist! I think people thought we were crazy! We had quite a long line to wait in while we checked in. I was worried about the car, but Sarah was busy taking pictures of everything!! and I mean everything! I couldn't post them all since it would make my blog 50 bazillion pages... but it was fun.
Sarah has always been obsessed with 'the Titanic'.. they had it at the LUXOR but we decided to pass, since we had gone to the Idaho Museum when it was on display there... But it made an awesome picture!
We finally made it to our room, after lugging all of our luggage to our room we realized we should have used a bell hop. LOL. But we got fixed up so we looked good to go wander Vegas...
Dont' we look cute! not sure what face we are making... maybe we were trying for the duck face all girls make when they are fixed up nice......
While we were walking around, this guy came up and gave us VIP passes for a club... he didn't give them to just anyone, what  an ego boost for us!! You'd think Sarah had won a ticket to see George Clooney from her excited look on her face lol! We got stopped by the guys that sell the dead sea moisturizers... and I got scared they would look up our room and take us like the movie 'Taken' hahaha! we had to barricade our door when we went to bed! We laughed about it later but I was scared. We were both tired and hungry and couldn't decide where to eat so we wandered around the Luxor and Excaliber...
We almost ate at this noodle place and later wished we would have.....
but we decided to go see what Vegas had to offer outside the Luxor.......
 Looking down the strip...........
So we headed over to the MGM Grand and decided to eat at "The Rain Forest Cafe" we had some wonderful coconut shrimp and rice... it hit the spot.
At our table waiting for our food... then Sarah saw a gorgeous man that was the night manager....
all she could do was stare at him with starry eyes.................
She wanted to get her picture taken with him and we had to work up the courage to ask for a pic...
So we took pictures by this gorilla (no this wasn't the gorgeous man...) and we tried on hats!!
and finally! She did it! She went up and said she had made a bet with her friend that she wouldn't see any good looking men in Vegas and she had lost so she needed a picture.....
He seemed flattered ... his name was Will... he was nice........
Then we walked back to our room since it was close to midnight and I was worn out...
Sarah tried to talk me into going to this show! but I had to decline.... too tired! LOL We thought we'd give it a good old Vegas try at the slot machines on our way to our room and I even brought a little baggie of Quarters....
only to discover at our dismay, that the slot machines no longer take quarters! Dollar bills or credit cards!! Yeesh! no thanks... but we sat on the chairs LOL!
Then it was off to the room to try to get some sleep. We thought we'd get up and do a bit of shopping at Cesars's before heading to Arizona. :)
So this post will be continued............................

Catching up Continued... On to February

Ok, on to February with my catching up... Not a lot happened in February other than working, and the weather being cold. But my office did decide to do a Valentines party. Any chance we get we throw a party, usually we do a pot luck salad bar and then those that want to bring treats. I brought my cherry almond kiss cookies...
They are delicious! and I just took a random pic... I love the color of my hair in this one and my hair just seems to get curlier and curlier!
I made a Star Wars cake for a friend from work, her little boy was having a birthday... she had Leggo starwars figurines to put on it... so I just made the cake...
it turned out okay.. but later the Talon told me he didn't like the frosting....Oh well, you can't win them all!
And of course February 20th is Sarah's birthday, she turned 26 this year! and came home for the weekend. I made her a cookies and cream cake and tried to make a shoe out of gumpaste...
it was ok.. but not my best gumpaste decoration but the cake was yummo!
She loved her cake! We had a little party with mom and dad! and of course a scrabble game too!

 Love you Sarah!
and my friend Katy from church asked me to make her little boy a Toy Story cake... I had the most fun with this cake! Sarah helped me find the figurines to put on it and this is what I came up with.
Mr. potato head and the etch a sketch are from fondant. the other toys we bought, the bed posts are gumpaste. It was way fun!
And we ended February with snow and more snow.... but at least the sun was shining this day.
It got rather deep in places... but not like I remember us getting.
and that was our February of 2013.

Catching up............

Ok, seriously, the year is about over and I haven't even written about New Year's and things clear back in January! So the next few posts are going to be my year in review! and I can't believe, I haven't even ordered a blog book for 2012 yet. Good grief...does time seem to be going by faster than ever?
Any way, 2013 came ... with a bit of snow! This picture is New year's Day....
This picture is from January 2nd, was cold and everything was covered with frost! Beautiful!
I can't even remember what we did on New's Eve and Day, I know we probably tried to stay up till midnight but I usually fall asleep. Seems I got up and made homemade Chinese food and took to Mom and Dad's since Brian and Jennifer and their family were here for the holidays. I made Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, and chow mien... Yes that's what I did because mom and dad had gotten a rice cooker. I think Jim and I went out to dinner somewhere.... Happy 2013!
January went as usual, with work, and Andy was back in school at BYU-I and loving it. Sarah was back at UVU and seemed to be doing great. Andrew's birthday is January 20th, and this year he was soooo happy to be back at school that he didn't even want to come home ! So I thought I would make him some birthday cupcakes and take to him for so he could share with his roommates. He and his roommates have really been into game nights and they even joined a 'Bronie" club,(stands for brothers who like Ponies, as in my little pony.... there are video games they play and a comic book or something .. I know, silly but that's what he is into) so I found little 'my little pony' figurines and some comic book character figures for the cupcake toppers...

They turned out pretty cute! So on Andy's birthday we took the cupcakes and met him at the Verizon store in Idaho Falls. We got him an I-phone 5 for his birthday. He needed a new cell phone for sure! Then we took him to dinner at a restaurant of his choice. He picked Garcias....he LOVES fried ice cream!
Happy Happy 24th Birthday Andrew! We LOVE you!
Over the weekend it warmed up enough and was perfect for a snowman...
Can't remember what I named him... but he was a cute one! I made him by myself.......
The next weekend was Kylie and Jordan's birthday. They lived with Mom and Dad for their senior year of high school since Brian got a job in Fort Collins, Colorado, and moved the family. They wanted to finish school with their friends. So I made them a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling....
                                                                   It was delicious!
 Happy Birthday Kylie and Jordan!
I also crocheted a little in January... I made this uni-scarf....
and these cute little booties for a friends baby shower gift.
We had a super bowl party at work this year... so I made these cookies for the party. We always have a super bowl pool where everyone chips in 50 cents for a square on the score board sheet. It's kind of fun to break up the monotony of January.
And that was my January in a nut shell. I love my family and the fun things we do together. I like work ok and having office parties. Anything you can do to enjoy life I say just do it :)
