This weekend was the annual Bergeson 4th of July BBQ. We were going to have it Saturday afternoon. All week the weather report said the weather was to be sunny and mild with slight breezes. So we thought all would be good.
Jim's mom, Virginia, came Thursday evening. We got pizza and had a good visit. On Friday I got off work early and got the rest of my groceries and went home and got the salads all ready and the ribs in their foil packets and the chicken marinating. I'd been praying that the weather would hold out. It was beautiful Friday night.
Saturday morning came and so did the wind, and chilly weather. Oh NO!!! Well, I thought to myself, I'd been praying silently so now Jim and I needed to kneel in prayer and ask that the weather would be nice enough that our family could enjoy themselves at our party and all would be well.
We went on with the preparations of setting up tables and getting the last minute food preparations done. It was close to noon and the wind was still blowing and it was chilly, so we put the tables closer to the house, so it would be a little bit of a wind break and the sun would keep us warm.
Then when all was ready, and we had about an hour to wait for guests to start arriving we took a little break to wait....

and the wind died down, and it was in the mid seventies!! Our prayers were answered ... don't you love that Heavenly Father loves us and knows the desires of our hearts and answers are prayers?? It was the only calm afternoon of the whole 4th of July weekend!!! I'm so thankful, and as I sit and watch how windy it is right now... I am still impressed by the power of prayer, faith and a loving Heavenly Father.

Our guests started to arrive, and kept coming!! All in all I think we had 75 of my relatives there. We were only missing my sisters, Jan and Juli and their families. Brian had to work but his family was there. Brick wasn't there of Kim's family, and Jon and Casey were missing from Gary and Carols' family, and Eli from Nancy's but everyone else was there!! How awesome is that! We had lots of good salads, and we had plenty of ribs and chicken and even had leftovers.

Marilyn brought lots of jumpropes, and balls, and frisbees for the kids to play with. Kim had his croquet set and another fun game with balls on a rope that you throw at posts. I had bubbles with a giant pack of wands, and markers to color on the table covers with, and some of my craft paints for face painting!!

it was a blast. All the kids seemed to have a ball, running and playing. And a few even climbed my tree, even my sister Marilyn, (she had climbed to get the kids out of it, and thought it was quite fun and kept going clear to the top!!

I was sad when it had to end! We clean everything up and then Jim, me, Andy and Virginia wrapped up in blankets and enjoyed watching the Jensen grove fireworks from home.
Andy did have one last California candle left over from last year that he lit...

All in all it was a good day! and the next day the wind was blowing all day long!!
I love my family.... and it was a little bit of heaven on Earth with them all in my back yard!
I had soooo many cute pics it was hard to decide which to post!
