A little get away to think....

Sarah and I left Monday morning for Salt Lake City. She felt she needed time away from all the confusion, pressure, you name it, just to think. She woke up feeling peace in her heart after a night of prayers, and scripture reading. So we packed our bags and left.

Sarah loves bunny crackers that you get at walmart, so we munched on some while we drove!

We had a good drive and did lots of talking. Sarah had been feeling a little iffy about the pending marriage too, but she thought it was cold feet. She had prayed really hard that if this marriage wasn't meant to be that Dave would be able to realize the same thing and call it off, because she couldn't. And it happened, as heart breaking and shocking as it was, Sarah realized that this was an answer to her prayers. She just needed to figure out what to do next, how she felt about Dave, and where to go from here.
We stopped in Layton and ate at the Brick Oven Pizza place... yummo!!!

I love there Chicken Alfredo pizza, and they have the BEST rootbeer!! Sarah hadn't eaten there before so it was fun to take her there.
On our drive we would feel happy and then sad, it was up and down all day!
We checked into the Red Lion motel in downtown SLC, can I just say they have really comfortable beds and pillows??? we relaxed a bit,

and freshened up, then we went to Temple Square. Don't you just love how the streets around there are soooo busy, but you step into Temple Square and it's really quiet?? We went right to the Christ Statue,

and just sat for about a 1/2 hour. Then we walked around, and then outside. We talked to some sister missionaries, one who had been engaged and then decided to go on a mission. It was good to talk to them. They took us into the tabernacle and showed us an accoustic test of the tabernacle. It was neat, they were cute and very nice, it was helpful to talk and get our minds off things. Next we went to the other little building at the side of the temple. It's all about families in that one, and the temple. Sarah loved the miniature temple that was cut in half so you could see what the rooms looked like and listen to what they are used for. She loved it, and that temple looked like a doll house! It's very interesting.

Then we walked to the front of the temple, and then around back to our car, it was getting late. But we both felt so at peace with things.
We ate at Chick fillet, it was yummo! I hadn't eaten at one of those, and my sister Juli kept telling me how good they were.
We went back to the motel, and Dave had left Sarah a message on her phone to call him, which she tried to do but got no answer. (he had fallen asleep). We finally were able to get a good nights sleep too.
Tuesday, we drove around alot , we went to the Gateway and ate a Thaiphoons, they have the best calamari that we had to get for lunch!!

Then we went to Provo to look at the Utah Valley University next to BYU. Sarah LOVED it!! and got way excited about going there to finish school! All she had to do was re-apply (she was going to go there last January but ended up staying at Rexburg because of Dave). She's already been accepted, and just needs to make an appointment to go talk to an advisor about classes. We met her friend, Tiffanie, that she knew from Rexburg and went to dinner at The Spaghetti Factory. Tiffanie didn't need a roommate but she said she would let us know if she heard of anyone looking for one. But at least Tiffanie is in Provo and they can do stuff together. Kimi, Sarah's friend from high school lives in Provo too! She met us at the Farr's yogurt place, the pineapple yogurt is yummo!! All 4 of us had a great time chatting and eating yogurt. Then it was time to go back to our motel. Sarah was supposed to call Dave. She got a hold of him this time, and it started out okay, but they got in a HUGE argument, afterwards she looked at me, and said, "I feel like I almost married the wrong man!!"
We got up Wednesday, and checked out of our motel, and went back to Provo. Have you ever eaten at "Jay Dogs"? Best hotdogs ever!!! we had to go there for lunch! Then we drove around Provo, I found the old beauty school I had gone to when I was fresh out of High School, Mary Kawakami's School of Beauty. (I could break out in Barbara Streisands song "Memories" about now!! imagine it playing in the back ground as I drove by :o)it was abandoned but it was still there.
Then we looked up some apartments, there was one where a 25 year old girl was renting out a house, and her ad had said she needed a fresh start. This sounded perfect! We called but only got her answering machine. So we continued to look at other places. There was one that Sarah liked and filled out an application for. But it was alot like student housing at Rexburg, 4 small rooms with girls you dont' know, and Sarah just wasn't too excited about starting all over with that again. We called on a few others but we were a little discouraged.
We picked up applications for places for Sarah to work too. And stopped at the Olive Garden in American Fork. She knows the manager at that one from when she worked there in Idaho Falls. He said he would hire her whenever she's ready to move!! So she has a job! Then it was getting late in the afternoon so we thought we'd better head back to Idaho. We had just left all the cities and were close to Tremonton, when that girl called that had the house. Sarah and her talked for a minute or two, and Sarah was soooo excited and they both wanted to meet and Sarah wanted to look at the house. I just had the feeling that I needed to turn around since we were this close, so we did.
The girl's name was Jessica, and she was tired of living in student apartments too, and works but is thinking about going to school. The house was her grandparents, and they were now in a nursing home. The house hadn't sold, so Jessica's dad and her had decided it would be fun to fix it up and rent to girls going to school. Sarah and Jessica had a good time chatting and were way excited about having Sarah live there. So we said we wanted it for sure!! Talk about things just working out or what!!
Sarah feels like this is what Heavenly Father wants her to do, and that there is something there for her in Provo. Whether it's just getting a little more independant by moving there, or finishing school, or growing in the gospel, or all that and more, she's going to give it a shot! She can't not go after her prayers had been answered and she felt like this is what she is supposed to do.
After eating at In and Out burger , we headed for home, feeling good about everything (except a little too full, Sarah had to get us both 2 burgers!!). We didn't get home until 1 AM but it was worth it.
Dave and Sarah got together on Thursday, Sarah had written out all her feelings about it all, and they went to lunch and talked. He felt the same way, and thought if Sarah wanted to go to Provo that would be good for her, he would stay in Rexburg until the Guard will let him move, then he will either go to Provo or Boise, depending on what is going on with the two of them. They are happy, and still liked each other, but Sarah feels like they are friends more than anything else. They were able to have more fun together than they had had in a long time. I think the pressure of everything had been too much.
They went on a date on Friday too, to the Idaho museum. Sarah loved it and said we all need to go, it's an awesome display that is there on the human body.
So all in all, even though it has only been a week, we are good. Sarah is growing closer to her Heavenly Father, and I know he has a plan for each of us, and is there to help when we need it.
Saturday, we went to Rexburg for another "Booty Butt sisterhood of the Traveling Crafts" day with my sister and her two girls, and my mom.

That's my neice Alison holding her son, Brenner, my neice Emily, Alison's daughter Lexi standing next to my sister, Marilyn. My mom is in front holding Alison's baby Malia, and then my sister's mother-in-law, Afton Teeples. Emily's son Lincoln wasn't in the pic...

Emily had made a yummy "chicken salad" to go on croissants. We had fruit and veggies and dips, and I made my Pizza bites and lemon raspberry cupcakes, and cookies and cream cupcakes. We made frames with fabric roses on them. Sarah made the brown one, and mine is the one on the right that is green....

It was sooooo fun!! I can't wait till our next one. Sarah continued to craft on Sunday and Monday and made 3 more way cute frames and blocks!

She did an awesome job!!! I wish I had more time and energy to make some with her. Sarah, you are way creative!!

After all this turmoil, we feel alot closer to our family, and our friends in the ward. Everyone was so caring and helpful. I love the gospel and the happiness it brings into our lives even though sometimes life is hard, that's when the gospel is even better.... don't you agree??
